Golf injuries

Golf is often considered as a boring sport. It is not as active as playing volleyball, hockey or basketball. Some may think that winning golf trophies could be easy. However, winning in golf is as difficult as any other sports. And injuries that can be obtained in playing the sport is also as many.

The golf swing, if incorrectly executed can induce injuries to the body. Players can injure their elbows, backs, wrists and shoulders. If not properly cured, these injuries may lead to more serious cases such as chronic back pain, tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow.

Playing golf is not only putting your golf balls in tees hitting them right and shooting them in holes. It is not either finishing your favorite 18-hole course with rainbow-colored scores. Playing golf is also about proper technique and safety. World wide almost 450,000 people every year are treated because of golf related injuries. This happens because misuse of equipments, improper techniques and most of all overuse of joints and muscles.

The most common complaint golfers experience after playing golf is back pains. Every time you hunch over to swing a golf club, it is your back that gives the greatest effort and not your hands or hips. It is at your back where you get the power and momentum for you to be able to swing the club. Another is tendonitis. It is when the tendons of your elbow, wrist and shoulders are inflamed. This happens when you stress too much on a swing.
