Human Memory

The human brain is very delicate and very complex. It is difficult to understand and although some scientists are now attempting to use nanotechnology and all those biotechnology researches, computer memory could not be able to overcome the power of the human brain.

We may be wondering how we are able to retain a memory for a long time but somehow forget other past experiences easily. This is how the brain works: Whenever we experience something, or we obtain information, our brain records that information by connecting the group of neurons that take in encoding the event and strengthening that bond. This pattern is stored in the brain and is called the Engram. This engram will be store and will not be used unless that particular memory is awakened and retrieved by the person. However this experience is only stored if that experience is meaningful to the person. If it is not, the memory is only stored in the brain’s phonological loop which is for short term memory purposes only.
